Nice Guys Finish Last

"Well, from the sound of your whiny voice, I'm guessing something unappealing," Kai shrugged, and stuck his hands in his pockets. "Something happen with the guy I asked you to talk to?"

"Of course something happened with the guy you asked me to talk to!" Scott gestured wildly in the air, like he normally did when trying to illustrate a point. "Yeah, so, he was trying to flirt with me earlier, basically! And he kissed my head in some creepy touchy-feely way. And then you probably heard the rest at lunch."

"I dunno," Parker admitted dryly, running a hand through his hair. "Yeah, he seems pretty freaking gay, but... You know, you may be an 'extremely attractive person', but maybe he doesn't share your opinion. Then again, since you're so awesome, who doesn't feel that way?"

"I know, right?!" Ethan yelled, eyes widening as he waved his hands in the air, "Do you think maybe I'm going too fast?! He's probably never dated before--he looks like that type to you too, right?! Right, he does!! Thanks for agreeing with me! So what do you think I should do?!"

"I tried to tune most of the conversation out, but I heard enough of it," Kai said. "So... I'm guessing I'm not allowed to go home with you tomorrow, huh?" He grinned at the other.

"It'd probably best if you didn't come home with me," Scott told him, shaking his head. "At least my mom'll be happy I talked to someone who's not you or Tara. Even though I dislike the stupid guy!"

"Once again, I don't know. I've never really dated either," Parker stated blandly. "I don't know the guy, I've only met his cousin briefly, but from what I've heard, he's an antisocial person who loves music. Maybe you could learn a lot about it, and then try and impress him. Try and get him to open up more." He shrugged. "Just a suggestion."

"I'm already getting some singing lesson shit from him tomorrow, so that's taken care of," Ethan snorted, "And you've seriously never dated anyone? So you're a virgin?!" he snorted again with laughter, rolling onto his stomach and paging through his science textbook.

"I just said I've never dated, not that I'm a virgin," Parker pointed out, glaring at his phone. "You say he's going to teach you to sing? I'd pay to see that. Try not to hurt yourself trying."

"Never dated, but not a virgin," Ethan smirked, avoiding the subject of his singing lesson, "I'm sure your parents are proud. Oh, and I'm gonna kick ass. Just wait, someday you'll be paying to see me singing in concert, so suck on that."

"Shh, my parents don't know, idiot," Parker rolled his eyes. "Let's hope you do somehow kick ass, and if you ever do manage to sing in a concert, I'll give you all the money that's in my bank account."

"Probably not much, but it's a bet," Ethan smirked, playing with a loose strong on his sheets, "And it's an expression, dude. Only Neely's parents now or care about the status of his virginity." He rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, his parents probably made him get one of those weird virginity ring things," Parker mused jokingly. "And my bank account has plenty, by the way. The parents fund it."

"So Neely's a Jonas brother," Ethan nodded. Suddenly, he heard his mom's shrill voice calling him, and he said, "Ah, sorry Parker, gotta go. See ya tomorrow!" and hung up.

TIME SKIP

"So...this should be interesting..." was all Ethan could think of to say in the awkward silence as the two headed to Scott's house the next day. He stuck his hands in his pockets and looked up at the sky.

"oof!" Neeley let out as he landed on the front lawn.
"God Dammit." He sighed, rubbing his head.
"I'd rather the old man left, like he always says then beat me up when he's mad." He got up and headed over to Valerie's house, since he had no other option.
"Stupid Jackass." The teenager said, examining the brise where he'd been punched in the gut.
He reluctantly rang Valerie's doorbell.

((I'm pretty sure I volunteered myself to be Scott's mother XD I'm using all my friends' moms as an example. It works, it works.))

"Interesting indeed," Scott answered. "Now, the apartment isn't really all that big, and it isn't really all that clean because my stuff is everywhere, so..." He shrugged. "Just don't say anything about it. Oh, and my mom is kind of, um, odd."

"Odd." Ethan replied dryly, "Mentally insane, or just weird? Because I can handle weird. I'm the fucking king of weird."

"Weird. Eccentric," Scott shrugged again. "We're Italian. That should kind of sum it up."

"Oh, that's it," Ethan said with a wave of his hand, "Italian I can handle. How Italian are you, anyway? I'm pretty much just Spanish."

((I JUST DECIDED THAT.))

"Mom's full Italian, I'm half," Scott explained. "The rest is just Irish, German, and British, though those sides aren't really acknowledged. And that's cool, Spanish is pretty hot."

((AGREED, SCOTT.))

Ethan didn't speak immediately, his mind rushing through several interpretations of Scott's statement before saying, "Yeah, we're pretty awesome."

((Scott sounds like Kyle or something there. xD))

((You mean he sounds like blonde in general? XD))

"Do you speak any Spanish?" Scott asked, because, really, Spanish is a pretty attractive language. "I know some Italian, since that's the only language my mother enjoys swearing in."

"I'm not fluent, but I know quite a bit," Ethan nodded, rubbing the back of his neck as he felt it burn up beneath his hoodie, "My mom pretty much never felt like learning much English, so we just kinda adapted to that."

"Maybe I should start paying attention in Spanish class if I ever want to have an intelligent conversation with your mom, then. Oh, and here we are. Welcome to mi casa," Scott said, unlocking the front door and pushing it open. "Mom, I'm home!"

"Scott, honey, welcome home!" Scott's mom shouted back. "Oh, Scott, you brought someone home with you who's not Kai!" She stared at her son's friend for a moment before pinching his cheek. "What a handsome young man! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Scott's mother, but please, call me Bianca."

((1, Bianca is Joe's sister's name, so... XD And 2, that is exactly what Joe's mom did to me =_= My cheek hurt like hell for the rest of the goddamn day.))
